I...appologize for my silence recently. Things have changed and I've been making myself busy and trying to avoid this device all together. The ticking's getting too much to bear, though, and I knew it would only be a matter of time.

I know many people have come and gone (and returned without their memories) recently, and I just wanted to introduce myself. I am Lieutenant Kaidan Alenko. It's a pleasure to meet all of you.

Somehow I avoided the fighting...somehow.

On a slightly less serious note, Miss Romana, how do your projects fair? I think I've gotten somewhere on mine.

It was one of those weekends, again. They've become fairly regular. I don't know if it means the deities are bored or just indecisive.  Whatever the case, it's getting to be disturbing.

There are computer terminals of several persuasions around, and the various sounds made by that equipment fills the speakers.  Wrapped about his left arm, encompassing his hand and forearm up to the elbow, is a glowing hologram of orange light, different characters and numbers stream about it's holographic surface, and he's regularly checking a display, and then moving his fingers of his right hand through the hologram, causing areas of it to flash, and more data to stream through it's surface.  He seems very deep in concentration and obviously doesn't realize the Network device is recording.]

I've been thinking for a while now, having talked to a number of people, that it's possible there's a common grain between all those pulled here from elsewhere.  In this vein, I'd like to ask you all a question: Before arriving here from your home worlds, were you A) locked in some conflict or B) Recently finished with one?

Rogue.  I wanted you to know that I understand why you did what you did, and though I don't agree with how you went about it, I do agree that it could be very overwhelming and I forgive you.

You love Kitty, and you only wanted to protect her from someone you viewed as a threat.  I want to protect her as well.  There is nothing to worry about.

I wonder what Kitty's up to, today.  I haven't seen her since lunch, after she returned.  I can't blame her for being a bit reclusive.  Is she really avoiding everyone, though, or is it just me?  She said she wanted to start over, go slower.  I like that idea.  Does she?  Or was she just trying to avoid hurting my feelings?  It's always hard to tell with her.  Always compromising.  No.  Never a compromise.  If it were so, she'd get something out of it too.

How it is even any of my business?  It's her life, not mine.  What she chooses to do with it is her decision.

How I feel about Kitty reminds me of a Turian General I met once.  General Septimus, I believe his name was.  Anyway, he was in love with an Asari who, while she cared greatly for him, didn't ... well, it wasn't love.  Not to mention, her duties to the other people of the Citadel kept her from being more with him.  He spent all his time getting drunk in a strip club down in the lower Wards.  Because she rejected him. I...never thought it was possible for a man to be that torn up over a woman.

Not even Jane...I don't think of her all the time.  We're soldiers first.  Always.  Protocol, as tenuous at it is, remains superior to desire.  Kitty, though....I hear a song, a laugh similar to hers, a woman bouncing off along the square with the same shade of hair...and I think of her.  It's like...she's some sort of ghost.    I can't even put words to half of what I feel when I think of her.

....Where I come from, our nations remain divided, as far as the governing of Earth is concerned, so Independence Day is still an American holiday, but...in the Alliance Military, where there are people of all nationalities representing humanity as a whole, we've taken to celebrating each other's holidays.  Some, because they're a good distraction, others because they have traditions associated with them that are just too good to pass up.  Independence Day fits into that latter category.  Maybe it's just very manly of me to appreciate a good steak, fresh off the grill, and any reason to grill it.
